Rivendell

This is a poem I wrote about heaven, exploring how the world views the afterlife. My apologies for the Lord of the Rings allusions.

Rivendell

A scintillating seraph
has thoughts of
fair futures in ever-peaceful
Rivendell.

The glossy-pink

sherry sky
watches with
its single eye,
and says to itself;
the Homely House is
gone,
the elves are
gone.
Crispy tears
drip down her face
like

Don Giovanni praying
soulless songs.

The sundering sea
lays like a
contented Charon, guarding the
Underworld.
“The ships are gone,
No more will pass,”
Rumbling waves proclaim.

Alas!
The silver-haired elves
and
lonely-forgotten gods
joyously weep
at their news.

Winter softly plays
bitter sullen melodies
in empty chambers;

The world has ended.

The scintillating seraph
stares across the sea.
